Kendo Hakama #11000 Aizome
A hakama shapes the silhouette.
It determines the drape, line and presence in the dojo.
The De Luxe Kendo Hakama – exclusive to Kendo24 – was developed for kendōka who appreciate uncompromising material quality and traditional workmanship. Made from heavy #11000 fabric made of 100% cotton, it combines substance with an authentic feel.
Material & colouring
The fabric is made of pure cotton in heavy #11000 quality – robust, dimensionally stable and durable.
It is dyed using the traditional Aizome (indigo) process. The thread is dyed before processing so that the colour penetrates deep into the structure. The result is an intense, vibrant indigo tone with characteristic depth.
This dyeing method stands for authenticity – but it also means that the indigo is not chemically fixed.
Processing & pleating
The pleats are neatly sewn along the inner edge.
This makes folding easier and ensures clear, precise lines that last.
This finish is particularly important for heavy fabrics – it gives the hakama stability and helps it retain its shape even with regular training.
Comfort during training
The heavy cotton fabric gives the hakama a calm, dignified movement.
It falls powerfully and supports a clear presence in the dojo.
Suitable for intensive training as well as for courses and examinations – for kendōka who value tradition and substance.
Care instructions
As Aizome indigo is not fixed, it may initially rub off. Blue hands or slight colour marks are a sign of traditional dyeing.
Hand washing is recommended – ideally in the bathtub.
Adding vinegar when washing reduces colour loss and helps to gradually fix the colour. Hang up to dry in the shade.

With my height of 193 cm, the measurement from belly button to ankle is 108 cm. Divided by 37.9, the result is 2.85 shaku. And indeed: I wear a size 28 hakama. It could also be a size 29, but I like to wear the hakama a little lower... .
Special cases:
- Very slim people often wear the hakama a bit higher, people with a little bit of a belly also like to wear it "underbelly". Accordingly, the hakama should be chosen longer or shorter.
- Aikido hakama are wrapped in the belt of the keiko-gi at the front. Therefore, slim people should choose a slightly longer hakama so that the hakama does not stand out too much from the ground. Lower-bellied wearers, on the other hand, have enough fabric left to fold the hakama obi into the belt and should therefore choose the normal size of hakama.
- For slim and waisted women, hakama quickly slip into the waist. Therefore, one size larger should be chosen. Or you can make it easy on yourself and order a women's hakama directly from our exclusive clothing series for women - NYOSHOU!
